My piece, titled 'The Path,' is my second attempt at using oils for plein air painting. Feeling limited and uninspired by my previous process of working from photographs, this landscape was completed when I decided to take a new artistic approach to my art practice. During the past month that I have been painting plein air, I have been challenged to loosen up my brushstrokes, simplify my subject matter and experiment with new colour combinations. Ultimately painting plein air has become a way for me to take risks and further my creative freedom. 'The Path' represents my love for nature, as well as my personal quest to find myself as an artist.
