Jack’s Beach Bar, Bequia

I started this painting late morning, with the sun blazing overhead. I found a spot under a casuarina tree next to the bar, when all the parasols were closed and people were starting to drift into Jack's Beach Bar for late morning coffee and tropical fruit smoothies. My husband had dropped me off in the dinghy and he joined me for a coffee for a while.
It was hot, even in that ultramarine shade, and there was the sound of calypso music and steel drums in the air and the light chatter of happy people on holiday.
