You know that weird kid who always draws all over everything? Yeah… that’s me. When I was 5, I “fixed” my mother’s address book with drawings for each letter of the alphabet. I wrote an illustrated letter to President Nixon in 1972. Those wig heads in my mom’s closet? They ended up as early attempts at figure drawing.
I’ve been a professional artist for more than 30 years (but really my whole life – although I do not recall the form of payment for my address book job). I work in pastels and acrylic to render my version of nature. I take great inspiration from travel. I always have my camera with me… looking for the perfect image. Often we stop what we are doing so I can take a photo or make a quick drawing. My family is very well accustomed to living with an artist.
A 1984 graduate of Oklahoma City University, I've studied intensively under Sara Oakley, Bert Seaborn, Dale Martin and Mitsuno Reedy.
