A majority of my painting subjects are driven by life experiences. I am sentimental in my choices and always look for beauty in everyday objects. I love natural light and when it dances through an object and reflects into another. It is magic to me. I am fascinated with color, shape and light and how they are expressed in the simplest of objects. When painting from life, we have a connection with our subject. We see more clearly, and we feel the subject with each of our senses. The opportunity to paint en plein air with colleagues adds an honesty and richness to my studio work.
I strive to continue to push my work towards representational art with and emphasis in oils and pastels. I am a member of the Oil Painters of America, a signature member of The Southeastern Pastel Society, Master’s Circle recipient with The International Association of Pastel Societies, Pastel Society of America, and an associate member of American Impressionist Society.
